ST. CHARLES SCHOOL VPK PROGRAM INFORMATION 2011-2012

Florida’s Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten Program (VPK) is designed to provide every 4-year-old child in Florida with a high quality prekindergarten experience. It is their vision that all of Florida’s children will be eager to learn and ready to succeed when they enter kindergarten. VPK is available to all children for the 2011-2012 school year who will be 4 years old on or before September 1, 2011. Children are eligible to participate in the VPK program for only one year – the year that they are 4 on or before September 1st.

Here at St. Charles School our VPK classrooms offer high quality programs that include literacy standards, developmentally appropriate curricula, manageable class sizes, and qualified teachers. We are excited to serve in our second year as a VPK provider.

 Drop Off

All preschool students may arrive between 7:15am - 8:00am. We encourage parents to drop preschool children at the first circle in front of the School Administrative Office. Teacher and student safety patrols must be present before dropping a student. After 7:40am parents will need to park in the designated visitor parking behind the church and walk their child to the classroom through the Student Service Office.

Pick Up
Half Day students must be signed out at the Student Service Office no later than 11:30am.

Late Fee
Late fees will be assessed after a 15 minute grace period at the rate of $10 per 15 minutes. After 3:15pm all students not picked up will be checked into our extended day program, late fees will apply.

VPK Attendance Policy
“Providers will be paid for the entire annual student allocation, unless a child is absent more than 20% of the program. For those cases where a child is over the 20% absence threshold, the provider will not be paid under any circumstances.”

VPK will not pay tuition for any absences after your child has missed 34 school days at St. Charles School. Beginning with your child’s 35th absence, St. Charles will assess $15.54 each day that your child is absent to cover the unpaid VPK tuition (assuming the current VPK rate of $4.78/hour).
